I dreamt of you last night.
As I walked in, you were sat
as if normal, smiling with delight!
I traced your features, taking each one in,
from your sun-kissed hair,
to your silly little grin!
I burst out with tears
as I looked back at Mom,
then as I turned around,
just like that,
you were gone.
'Hush!' You had said,
'Please do not cry.'
'It is true that in your dreams you can see us and fly!'
Oh! How I wished I had
grabbed that outreached hand
instead of weeping with grief!
I seemed to misunderstand …
I will see you again,
my father, my rock.
Then it will be you
that will tremble with shock.
