The Child and the Underdog

I watched a child run by

She smiled when she saw me, but her mother looked with loathing

disgusted, imposing

I keep myself to myself, I walk with others like me.

We indulge on the decline, the waste of humankind

most of us ill, starving or blind.

We never look for unease, for filth or for duals, yet we are blamed for it daily

the taller ones kick us as they walk home from school

Yet the small, the young, the innocent and weak, they look at us and smile

I'm to them not a parasite, not a freak...

A friend never came back one day

I saw as the two humans ran from their havens

guns in hand, they shouted, full with hate and discrimination

We are not a waste! a vermin! or filth!

We are all one of God's creation.

So next time please take this into consideration

We have beating hearts, and souls, keep that in your equation

And look us in the eye before you start your domination

Do not hide behind your contamination.

Mass death heals nothing, and I will stand here still

Waiting for the wrath

of Revenge's thrill.

I watched a child run by

She smiled when she saw me. 'Mummy!' She cried,

'Save that poor dog's story!'
